Sublime (TED video) Eric Whitacre: A virtual choir 2,000 voices strong – Universe Standing O

Profound. A must see.
Eric Whitacre began his music career singing in his college choir, with no previous musical experience. By 21, he had completed his first concert work, Go, Lovely Rose, and soon advanced to Juilliard where he studied under Oscar-winning composer John Corigliano. Today, his 44 published concert pieces have sold over a million copies, he has conducted choral music in some of the most esteemed halls in the world and his music has been featured on dozens of commercial recordings. His album Cloudburst and Other Choral Works earned him a Grammy nomination in 2007.”

  1. Hi Heather,

I saw your query at http://getsatisfaction.com/350org/topics/enemy_of_350_movement
You and Alex both left a track on my blog so I went to have a look.
I would like to point out that my question was quite within the bounds of scientific standards and practice.
That being the case, I should think you should be VERY uneasy in your current beliefs if you are unable to formulate an answer or to have a presumed “expert” also unable to find an answer.

I am firm in my beliefs only because I can cite academic papers which contradict AGW AND also meet the criteria of basic scientific research. If you can show me papers that prove AGW, I am not wedded to my beliefs, but like a good scientist will modify them accordingly.

You may not be aware, but the fact is, meeting the IPCC requirements for CO2 reduction, will be an awful lot more than changing light bulbs and riding a bicycle. As an economist I believe that it will break economies and cause widespread poverty and privation in your country and mine.

Therefore, if the cost of preventing global warming is terribly high, you can understand why it is so very important to be absolutely sure that our sacrifices will in fact save the world.
