This posting is in honor of Chris who rightly pointed out that my post “Top 21 USDA Certified Organic Skin Care Lines” was missing Badger Balm!  He wrote, “Don’t forget about Badger Balm, www.badgerbalm.com. They were one of the first to make their entire product line USDA Certified organic (and they make great stuff).”

Chris,  I don’t know what I was eating that day! They were on my list. I am so glad someone pointed this out so I could fix it. I carry the Badger Balm products in my my store. I use  and adore their products  They are not just great they are cult classic great. Over 90% of Badger’s products are 95% to 100% USDA Certified Organic. The sunscreen and SPF lipbalm cannot be labeled USDA organic because they contain a high percentage of zinc oxide. (Their products are top of the top rated by the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep Database) The USDA considers zinc oxide a “non-agricultural” ingredient, and because the percentage used in these products exceeds 5% they cannot bear the USDA seal.  I cannot recommend their products highly enough.
