What Sunscreens Actually Work? Straight from Researcher’s Mouth

Digg!

There comes a time in everyone’s life when they wonder who they can trust for information… When it comes to the vitally important matter of sunscreen, the FDA has failed to set UVA standards. An investigation of nearly 1,000 brand-name sunscreen products by the Environmental Working Group finds that 4 out of 5 contain chemicals that may pose health hazards and/or have ingredients that don’t adequately protect skin from the sun’s damaging rays. Some of the worst offenders are leading brands like Coppertone, Banana Boat, and Neutrogena. There is a massive amount of MALARKY, BOLOGNA, & SIMPLE OUTRIGHT LIES, in the marketing of these products.

One of the research goals was to rate the products according to 3 factors, UVA protection, UVB protection, and stability.

Here are the winners out of 952 name brand sun screens…

For Adults- (yes, one, Soleo, is even organic, all natural!)

Badger Sunscreen, SPF 30 Score 95% (highest score)

Marie Veronique Skin Therapy Sun Serum Score 94%

Soleo Organics Sunscreen all natural Sunscreen, SPF 30+ Score 92%

Trukid Sunny Days Facestick MineralSunscreen UVA/UVB Broad Spectrum, SPF 30+ Score 89%

For Babies/Children

California Baby Sunblock Stick Everyday/year-Round, SPF 30+ Score 92%

California Baby Sunblock Stick No Fragrance, SPF 30+ Score 92%

  2. I noticed in the long list that many of the top products have zinc… I have been using sunscreen with a high zinc content for a couple of years due to my sensitive skin and existing sunspots. It absorbs well and yet provides great coverage. Strangely enough, zinc is also supposed to be good for immunity, and I found I’ve gotten sick less the past few years. This could also be due to improved diet and exercise. Any thoughts?
